Adventure Amalfi

Amalfi lies on the shores of the sea along the long rocky high coastline. The town is between the water and the mountains; it’s mostly vertical while exploring the space with pretty colorful houses and church towers.

I had no idea what to expect on this one night trip to Amalfi Town. We got our airbnb, train, and ferry two days in advance so this was very last minute.

We took an amazing train ride that had beautiful mountain views. Once we got to Salerno our maps took us two miles past the ferry when it was only two blocks away from the station. I kept communicating with strangers here for direction but they just used physical cues such as pointing since they didn't know much English at all. I eventually waved down a taxi driver to get us to take us to a new ferry. Although we were stressed and out of the breathe, the boat ride had amazing views. I love to boat at home so this made me feel a little bit of home.

When we arrived in Amalfi Town, we then had to walk up a million stairs with our luggage to get to our rooftop house. The hike ended up being rewarding since the rooftop of our place was breathtaking. We were greeted immediately by an orange kitty which was my trip highlight always seeing these cats roam around.

Once we got ready, we went straight to try Lemon Sorbet or "Sorbet al Limone." I was worried to try this but it ended up being amazing and tasting very similar to the minute maid ice cream type cups back in America.

We then experienced some shops and an expensive dinner by the water! There were hidden gems all over each alley, pretty balconies, and just a maze of small streets. It was insane how tiny the main street was. It was a two lane road apparently so we had to get to the side frequently for big cars to fit in this tiny strip filled with people.

Our night ended early with playing card games and drinking wine. From all our travel in Italy the past week, it was nice to have a chill relaxing night filled with laughter.
